Mental Arithmetic Championship at the Eurasian Women’s Forum
Girls Set a New Record
Approximately 200 girls from around the world took part in the UCMAS Mental Arithmetic Championship that was held on the starting day of the Second Eurasian Women’s Forum.
The opening of the championship was attended by the Chair of the Committee of the Federation Council on Science, Education and Culture Zinaida Dragunkina, who noted that the event would help popularize the exact sciences among girls: “We all know that it is usually boys who are attracted to the technical disciplines. Looking at all you wonderful girls from Russia and around the world, I sincerely hope that you will challenge the boys in a big way.”
A new world record for the Longest Maths Relay Race among girls was set at the Championship, according to World Records Union and World Kings Asia Book of Records.
The awards ceremony for the three winners of the Championship will take place on 20 September as part of the international expert session ‘The Role of Women Scientists in the Global Challenges of Our Time’ during the main business programme of the Second Eurasian Women’s Forum.
