Fumiko Hayashi: Men and Women Should Work Together
Mayor of Yokohama at the Second EWF
Fumiko Hayashi, Mayor of the Japanese city of Yokohama, was one of the participants of the Second Eurasian Women’s Forum. She received the Public Recognition 2018 Award for implementation of the best management technologies. Ms. Hayashi shared her impressions of the event with the EWC journalists and told about the main elements in the formation of management mechanisms.
According to Ms. Hayashi, participation of both men and women is necessary in any field of activity. They have their own views on the problem and have their special approaches to addressing it. That is why they can not only complement each other but also learn from each other. At the same time, it is very important to ensure that men and women work in a climate of respect.
Fumiko Hayashi says that any relations in the workplace between men and women and between supervisors and supervisees should be based on mutual understanding and fellowship.
Ms. Hayashi believes that women have a more practical point of view on some things. This is caused by the fact that they have to face domestic problems and solve them. They transfer this experience to addressing any other tasks appearing in a changing world.
The speaker stressed that the Second Eurasian Women’s Forum also had a practical nature. “We not only spoke about things in general and exchanged our opinions on the problems. We also proposed concrete solutions and told about programmes and projects that were already in operation and proposed new ones”, she commented.
