New UNIDO Goodwill Ambassador

Russian representative Veronika Peshkova garnered prominent international recognition

President of the Women’s View Public Diplomacy Foundation and Member of the Expert Council of the OPORA RUSSIA Committee on the Development of Women’s Entrepreneurship Veronika Peshkova was officially announced as the Goodwill Ambassador of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) from Russia at the Second Eurasian Women’s Forum. The highly respected international organization offered high praise for the great contribution made by Russia as a whole and by Peshkova in particular to the development of women’s entrepreneurship. Chief of the Europe and Central Asia Division of UNIDO Jacek Cukrowski read out a welcome letter from UNIDO Director General Lee Yong. Deputy Speaker of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation Galina Karelova congratulated Peshkova on her new appointment. She also stated that all the projects proposed to UNIDO by Russia are readily supported and that options are offered for developing cooperation. In conclusion, the senator stressed: “We are very pleased that we are not only moving forward with UNIDO, but are doing so together”.

In her speech, Peshkova thanked everyone for the honour and made a number of proposals on how to use UNIDO mechanisms for inclusive sustainable industrial development. For example, she proposed forming an international women's talent pool, creating an online platform for training women, and engaging in activities to involve young women in high-tech industries, among other things.
