ORLA HAV ON DANISH WOMEN
Every woman is unique. Moreover, women in different countries have their own distinctive features. On the 137th IPU Assembly journalists from the Eurasian Women’s Community spoke to the Danish parliamentarian and learned about women’s position in his country.
Certainly, the role of the women is important in Denmark. The Queen Margrethe II is a head of the state. Besides, a woman assumed the position of the Prime Minister recently.
Our interlocutor mentioned that women have opportunities to realise their potential in any sphere of activities. “There are, of course, some jobs and positions that are more difficult for women to enter. This is not discrimination. The thing is that kids have a great deal stronger connection with their moms than with fathers. The women themselves are also not ready to leave their children. It is possibly the main factor that prevents career growth of our women”, said our interlocutor. Although, he assured that there are many successful, educated, and qualified in various spheres women in Denmark.
He also said that women of his country are famous for their intellect and diligence. Many of them work none the less than men. They are perfect mothers and wives at the same time. According to Orla, the equality means equal rights and opportunities for both men and women. Denmark has such equality.
